This guide is based on the UK “A” standard and covers A0, A1, A2, A3, A4, A5 and A6.
Key Words
Grammage (gsm)
GSM or "Grams per Square Meter" is a measurement of the density of the paper. Our standard plain paper are usually between 70gsm and 80gsm. Whereas, our mount board and ticketboard is closer to 1000gsm.
Whiteness (CIE)
Whiteness is the measure of how much light is reflected by a sheet and is measured in CIE. Our standard white paper has a CIE whiteness between 150 and 170.
Thickness (micron)
Measured in microns (1/1000 of a millimetre) and is more relevent for thicker card and boards. Normal paper is approximate to 100 microns while our mountboard is up to 1400 microns.
Opacity
This is a measure of how transparent a sheet is and is defined in perctage. The less opaque a sheet is the lower the percentage. Our paper scores more than 90%.
Ream
Number of sheets per pack which can vary in quantity dependent on the manufacturer and the GSM.
